July 2021 Update

 7/30/21

Dear Friends of Amor y Esperanza,

As the US continues to open up in most parts of the country and return to a relatively more normal summer routine, we are remembering those who are still suffering from the pandemic both in our own country and in particularly those around the world.

In Ecuador, Amor y Esperanza is ready to open its doors to its students for this upcoming school year, but the Delta variant is beginning to shut down cities around the country. Tragically even those who have received two doses of the vaccine are getting sick and even dying on account of mismanagement in the refrigeration of doses. These factors make the future uncertain for the school. Parents want to send their students to school, but understandably, people are afraid.

1 Corinthians 12:26-27 says, “If one part suffers, every part suffers with it; if one part is honored, every part rejoices with it. Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it.”

Please join us in grieving for the fear and sickness in Ecuador, and join us in praying for the health and wellbeing of all our family at Amor y Esperanza. May they be able to open the school for in-person learning this upcoming year! Join us too in trusting that God is in control and that His love speaks a better word through all of this.

CELEBRATIONS

In spite of great challenge, great things are still happening! We praise God that the new building has recently been cleared by the municipality after a brief scare in which there was an accusation of the building being built too close to the street. The school had, however, received permission for their proximity to the street, and Pancho was able to produce the agreement and clear everything with the municipality. Pancho and Pitty are also interviewing teachers and staff to join their team. Please pray for God to bring the right people into these positions.

A few weeks ago, the kindergarten class was able to have an in-person graduation event, and on July 26, the second ever class of seniors took part in a graduation ceremony over Zoom. It is wonderfully encouraging that even with so much uncertainty, both the youngest and oldest students are able to be celebrated and the school is able to graduate students from its high school. Praise God!

ANNOUNCEMENT AND THANKS

Finally we’d like to take a moment to extend our heartfelt thanks to board members Angel Almaguer and Anna Groves, both of whom have rolled off the LHF Board. We’re so grateful for their service and the time they spent with LHF, particularly during the last season. If you’d be interested in serving with our board we’d love to hear from you - we are always looking for great people who love the school!

We are so thankful for you every day. Please stay in touch with us via social media and continue journeying with us in prayer.

In Christ,

The Board of Love and Hope Foundation
