Praises & Needs

News from Amor y Esperanza!

PRAISES:

Matched giving opportunity!

Due to the generosity of our board of directors and an additional long term supporter, we are able to match donations during the month of December dollar for dollar up to $26,000!  That means for every dollar donated this month, your impact is doubled!!

A Connected Community.

Pancho, Pitty, and the Zola family lead a devotional each morning on Instagram Live. They have kept this up for months now! To check out their messages find them on Instagram at @amory54esperanza.

Online learning.

Pancho and Pitty have worked closely with the Education Ministry in Quito and are currently providing online school for over 200 children. The amazing teachers at Amor y Esperanza are working hard, giving students high quality instruction that, sadly, many in Quito do not have access to. Pray for these incredible people!

Building Stewardship.

While teachers are utilizing the increased technological capabilities of the new building for streaming and recording lessons, the old building has found new life. Six families who have been hit hard by the pandemic and are unable to meet rent are now living in the old building, several of whom are Venezuelan refugees.

English Institute.

One creative pivot the school has made is offering an online English Institute which has enrolled both current and new students. We hope these new English Institute students will become full time students!

NEEDS:

Tuition support for students.

Covid has a truly global reach. Like many here in Atlanta, a good number of Amor y Esperanza families have been hit hard and are no longer able to make tuition payments. Outside support will be critical to see the school through this season due to decreased local revenue. Total need is $12,000 per month for tuition support and operational expenses.

A new vehicle for Pancho and Pitty.

A few years ago when the school was facing a possible shut down due to financial difficulties, Pancho and Pitty sold one of their vehicles along with other personal property in order to keep the school running.  We would love to bless them now with a reliable used car to prevent them having to use the public transit especially during the pandemic. A good used car for their family would be in the $10K to $15K range.

Electric transformer.

The school’s transformer needs to be upgraded to support the electrical capacity of the new school building, especially given the improved technology that the school is now using – Smartboards, computers, wired Ethernet connectivity to the internet.  The cost of this transformer is $5,600.
