May 2024 Update

Amor y Esperanza family! Here we are in the month of May! Time flies! This month, my youngest son will graduate from a school that each of my four children has attended from kindergarten through senior year. It is the end of an era for our family! With graduation ceremonies and school years ending, this month can feel like the month of "lasts" and "endings." But May is actually a month of new life as the blooms open up and the flowers bring forth the color and glory of our Lord Jesus.

As you behold the wonder of springtime around you, consider how the Lord is also in bloom in a little corner of the earth called Carmen Bajo. The Lord has built a building where the cornerstone is Christ, and Christ alone. His word goes forth every day to the students there from pre-K through what we would call 13th grade!

Jesus, thank you for giving these students a school where they can learn, can be formed with a Christian world view, and can know your love through the hands and feet of the Zola family and the teachers!

Please read on and watch this quick video to see how the Lord is presently moving in Ecuador AND how you can be part of the story!!

Sincerely,

Susan Justice, LHF Board Member

PS - I just received amazing news!  We have a donor who is offering a matching grant of $25,000 to complete the third floor!!

Read on below ...

The first half of the third floor construction is nearly complete! This area will ...

  • House three mission teams this year (Whitefield Academy and Trinity Church in June and River Rock Church in the fall) and allow the teams to avoid spending up to 2 hours daily on the bus to transport to the school.

  • Allow an additional 50-100 children to enroll in the fall at Amor y Esperanza.

  • Make it possible for the school to receive children with mobility challenges.

More important than these physical changes, however, is the spiritual fruit from your gifts. Amor y Esperanza has been blessed with a hard-working and dedicated construction crew this year. Pancho has had the opportunity to share the gospel with them, and many have made decisions for Christ! The students and young adults traveling to serve at Amor y Esperanza this summer will also have the opportunity to receive spiritual nourishment as Pancho and Pitty minister the truth of the gospel. AND increased student enrollment in the fall means many more families may soak in the the love of Jesus poured out by the Amor y Esperanza family.

The current construction crew has truly been amazing! They have done incredible work quickly, and have been receptive to the Lord moving among them! We would love to keep this crew working on phase two of the third floor. The roof is already going up over this area. So, we have a BIG ask! Would you consider a gift of any amount to help us raise $50,000 to finish the third floor?

Your gift NOW will BE DOUBLED, AND will ...

  • Allow the current and favored construction crew to continue working, which in turn provides needed work for these men and their families.

  • Provide materials for the mission teams this summer to help with construction.

  • Finish classroom space on the third floor for incoming students in 2024-2025.
